I Will Press

In openning, I just want to say a few words. "Hijack, airplane, uranium, nuclear, Allah, terrorist, infidel, Osama, asassinate, bomb, George Bush, Hamas, Al-Qaida and lastly American." And now that I have your attention...

Name:
Location: United States

I am a woman. I live in the continental United States. This may or may not come through in what I write, but I have pride in my country. Portions of this may seem bizarre. Often I may say something off color or seemingly at random whose sole purpose is to set off a flag in the fearful government beast. I am by no means inciting violence. I believe strongly that when it is the time for violence, a better person than I will be instigating it.

Beyond Parody, Beyond Complaint.

I think I'm well outside of that place where I can say anything intelligent to express my feelings. Rational, intelligent discourse is a very dead thing these days. The tales of mismanagement in every aspect of government and business keep piling up and ultimately it is this which will cause the collapses everyone so fears.

Why, if the world works better when people follow a reasonably loose set of rules, does the man bought and paid for to lead the financial masterwork of the last thousand years disobey them? I could wax nostalgic about free-trade and rights of the businesses to keep the money they make. I could tell you the next President will make it all better. I could lie to you for the sake of comfort.

I am beyond parody and beyond complaint. Our President is the worst monster in American history. He is a puppet dancing on a string. No amount of comparisons to Hitler or other silly dictators adequately describes the artistry with which Bush has taken power. He was illegally elected, launched not one but two illegal wars and now seeks to launch a third...I could list for hours his criminal negligence if negligence it were. It was not a lack of planning however. Every step, every element has been carefully tuned to produce reactions from the people which would allow him and his to implement policy both foreign and domestic which constitutes nothing less than crimes against humanity, the worst crimes a man can be charged with.

To try and execute him is not enough. I will tell you what we must do once this man is out of power, howsoever it is done. We must remember him. Remember every scream. Remember every picture of every dead child. Remember every soldier without limbs or eyes. Remember now or damn you all; go back to the Hell opened for you and stew in the fires of unrepentant patriotism.

A State Of Brokenness

Nightmares this night. Nightmares and horrors. I've just put down my copy of 1984 for the fourth time, having finished it again with my eyes aching and my neck burning with the fury that would kill so many before they'd dare submit to that monstrosity. Orwell's epitaph for the last Man in Europe is saddening but comes dangerously close to the eventual goal of fearful man when he obtains a state of unbridled ambition.

The President has grabbed for powers that are not his...and he's gotten them. I feel more and more often that the American people live within a very tiny bubble of non-interaction. More recently I've had a strong desire to leave not only America but the whole of this sad little continent. Our country was created based on warfare, born out of atrocity, built on the shrieks of burning children, and it will collapse under the weight of the terror it feels for itself. The single word which I imagine George Orwell would find truly disgusting in it's current context...'Orwellian'...applies so fiercely again and again that I cannot help but see people in a state of rebellion soon. The most stable countries don't seek mass control. They allow people to find their own desires with minimal interference and do not bow to the political attacks of other nations.

We live in what is steadily becoming a nation of maniacs, born fearful, building on fearful ideas, and basing themselves wholly on the idea that to live is to be constantly afraid and that if we are constantly afraid we will be safe. This is of course the opposite of the truth, a falsehood so sickening it stuns me that it is so widely accepted but that is how men make truth from a lie. They repeat it enough and people begin to believe it. The development of the mind is such that imprinting occurs over a period and while a good idea may be engendered once, it will not be accepted the way a bad idea engendered many times will.

What truly frightens me, the little soul in little old Wisconsin is the remote possibility that he may succeed. Even with riots in every state, with his government pulled down by the hinges, with his army deployed to another country, and his national guard short of manpower and troops...this Reaganite beast could grab enough power to make himself safe. I doubt it would be enough for him but he would be, to all intents and purposes, safe.

One year. They say we have one year. Once he's out of office and his party is /swept/ out of power by the rising, vengeful tide of a country that's been ignored for the last three years by it's entire greedy, lying, hateful executive I pray they hunt him. I pray he doesn't have a country he can run to where they won't extradite him, march him and his to Switzerland, put them on trial and then toss them in the deepest hole they can find to rot out the rest of his days as a reminder of what happens to monsters.

When he is taken to account for torture, for crimes against humanity, for violating the Constitution, the Geneva Conventions, the FISA Act, the UN Charter, and half of the laws made within the last hundred years to prevent the over-reach of the executive. I want to see him in front of a jury and on that jury, his human peers.

I want to see an Iraqi on that jury.

I want to see a woman whose daughter was raped and he refused her an abortion.

I want to see a crippled man who lives in constant agony who couldn't get THC.

I want to see a Wal-Mart employee whose legal protections he stripped.

I want to see a detainee who he had raped and beaten.

I want to see a homosexual whose right to marry he would see taken away.

I want to see a Christian who believes 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' is not just a suggestion.

I want to see on that jury a Leukemia patient who he refused to fund stem cell research for.

I want to see a soldier who lost his legs in combat and came home to find he had no veteran benefits left.

I want to see a broken young woman bankrupted by insurance companies while she tried to save her child and he refused her universal health care.

I want to see a journalist who was forced to bury reel after reel of film that would tell the people about the horrors he's seen in a war of lies because they contained pictures of the dead.

I want to see an old woman who was tasered by a SWAT team that broke into her home in the middle of the night...and lastly of all the people I want to see on that jury, I want to see a child there.

A child looking towards the long night that constitutes what is left of his rights, his future, and his life.

I want George Walker Bush to have to look those people in the eyes as they damn him to the pit for what he's done and I want the coward to see them and remember every night he spends shivering in a prison cell.

When again do we declare our independance?

We hold these truths to be self-evident. This is the character of the founders of this nation. The Declaration was, if anything, a series of charges leveled against the leadership over two nations already separated by an ocean. Today we face another George. It should be an irony to sicken the heart all by itself that the man recognized now as the most corrupt man in American history is also George.

Lets look at the charges though. These were the charges for which the earliest Americans split themselves from the over-arching forces of King George's insane rule.

Firstly.

1.He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

George Walker Bush, through his use of signing statements, declarations of executive privilege (A non-existent piece of political posturing found in no legal document passed by any government body.), his commutation of the sentence of Scooter Libby a confirmed criminal in his administration has rejected the rule of law. This is to say nothing of the blatantly illegal NSA warrant-less wiretapping program instituted against the American people in the name of 'protecting' national security.

FBI watch-lists have expanded to nearly 500,000 persons spread throughout this country in defiance of the fourth amendment.

2.He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

The President has vowed to veto and destroy any laws which would make medical marijuana a nationally acceptable practice despite mass quantities of evidence from respectable establishments that the chemicals in marijuana are less dangerous and more effective than any currently marketed drug. This plant could save thousands of lives, produce a low cost fuel, create new jobs, and cut the use of tree's in paper mills across the world...and yet hemp is still illegal.

He has prevented stem cell research from obtaining government funding by vetoing any bill which comes through his office relating to it. This research could save millions of lives and raise the standard of living for millions more.

3.He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

The laws President Bush has passed which are to the benefit of large groups of people have included packages of re-districting measures intended to dilute the power of people to represent themselves.

4.He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

Dick Cheney (Bush's crony, mastermind, and political bull dog) has attempted repeatedly to dissolve the Information Security Oversight Committee which determines whether government offices are properly handling sensitive information because he believes those rules should not apply to him. This is highly indicative of a disdain for the rule of law, most especially when Cheney attempted to declare himself a non-entity within either the legislative or executive branches and therefore not party to the rules that govern either while holding power in both.

5.He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

The creation of the Real ID act in a funding appropriations bill would have effectively created a national ID card for Americans. Facing massive rejection by the public and the states, he went further and included statutes which would require people to have a Real ID in the now defunct Comprehensive Immigration Reform act of 2007, the third such law in three years to carry that name. This would have prevented millions of immigrants and very likely citizens, legal and not, from obtaining basic services guaranteed to them.

6.He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

President Bush has used the much touted recess appointments to pass judicial nominees that the Congress has blatantly rejected and was forced to remove the nomination of a party loyalist, William Pryor Jr after an outcry from the democratic minority. This man was an anti-abortionist and a straight to the bone conservative not unlike both of Bush's Supreme court appointments, Alito and Roberts.

7.He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

Bush uses bullying tactics to press his loyalist judges into line on those rare occaisions when they dissent from his rulings though of late, with the neo-conservative appointments in power, the split in the SCOTUS has been a consistent 5-4 on issues ranging from Free speech for students to partial birth abortion. The biggest worry is that, should Bush be forced into a court showdown with Congress and required to answer for his crimes, his own appointed judges would lick his hand and find him not guilty. He would be prosecuted by men he put in office.

8.He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

The Office of Faith Based initiatives is for the procreation of Christian ideals in blatant violation of the separation of Church and State. The Department of Homeland Security which was created after the 9/11 incidents is one of the most heavily over-funded systems of non-functional attack on the rights of Americans, operating with near unregulated power to pass regulations which have created watch-lists, public mis-information campaigns, suppress evidence of government wrongdoing, and protect the vested interests of said government even up to and including burying evidence of human rights violations.

9.He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

The permissive Congress has allowed an exponential increase in the use of military style police tactics, including a rise in the last seven years of the exercise of SWAT teams against non-violent civilian targets. The death of a Virginia doctor suspected of illegal gambling. alongside a slew of accidental, sometimes fatal, incidents involving the use of militarily trained police units leaves us living under the constant fear that our own police are soldiers in the service of the government. The National Guard is now under the direct control of the President. We are paying to keep them housed and fed.

10.He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

The Civil Power in the American government is the legislative body, Congress. Bush, through the use of tactics best described as thuggery has rendered it all but impossible for Congress to pass laws re-dressing the grievances of those harmed by it's excesses, either the local and domestic issues created by veterans returning from the Iraq war to find themselves without benefits or the destroyed Iraqi's living under the shadow his rule. The Pentagon has repeatedly in-acted policies which directly contravene the orders of the legislature, concisely increasing the budget without oversight, decreasing veteran benefits, increasing deployment periods, loosening recruitment restrictions, and failing repeatedly to prosecute individuals who have committed crimes against humanity.

11.He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation.

The President is subject to a balance of Congress and the Supreme court. During the period from 2000, to 2006 the conservative majority made this balance all but obsolete. Also during that period there were passed laws in direct violation of the Constitution of the United States, including the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions act. These laws also broke down barriers that had been accepted for nearly a hundred years for the handling of prisoners in war times and even went so far as to strip the right of Habeas Corpus, one of the oldest laws in the land, from any man held by the President as an Unlawful Enemy Combatant, a term which was created to describe anyone Bush declared it to refer to.

12.For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world.

Bush has reduced international trade except where it most benefits him and his partners in crime, the rich minority who invested in having him elected. He has moved to deregulate and quash new technologies which would contribute to the wellbeing of America except where those technologies were controlled by his government and it's subsidiaries, confounding efforts to report the wrongdoings of lobbyists and handing no-bid contracts to companies which produced inferior products.

He has maintained the ban on trade with Cuba and refused strongly to negotiate with Iran all the while allowing Israel free rain to violate the rights of the forming Palestinian state.

13.For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.

While he may not have imposed new taxes, George Bush has significantly reduced taxes on the richest of his citizens, damaging the lower classes by cutting budgets to services which would benefit them all so he could give the richest 6% of this country back a few million dollars.

14.For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury.

The Military Commissions act of 2006 stripped away any right to Trial by Jury for detainees or anyone declared an enemy combatant. It created a farcical system for the prosecution of such people wherein the accused would not see evidence against them, be allowed to defend themselves, be allowed counsel, or be allowed to be present when their case was decided. These military tribunals have since been declared illegal though Bush still fights to find a way to remove basic human rights from these people.

15.For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offenses.

Guantanimo Bay and Abu Gharib are both fine examples of this violation. Bush created them to escape the requirements of the law and avoid giving the people imprisoned there the legal umbrella of rights held to be universal by this very declaration of Independence.

16.For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies.

Bush adores the destruction of internal systems of government. He has ripped apart the Iraqi infrastructure to such an extent that the governing body of Iraq, which he placed into office, has power only in a part of a single city and cannot maintain any of it's edicts nor pass any resolution which will alter the systematic oppression of it's peoples. He wishes now to invade Iran and do the same, spreading out the boundaries of American rule even stretched thin monetarily and against the public opinion.

17.For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

George Bush drafted National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 51 to invoke, in the event of a national emergency, powers unheard of in the history of our country and an absolute control over the American government without Congressional oversight, without officially directed end to such power, and without a clear definition of what a national emergency entails. This wipes out the separation of powers completely.

18.He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

What is war against a people? The removal of their rights, laws, culture, and the structure which govern them by force of arms. Placing the National Guard at the disposal of the President instead of the governors, increasing the use of military police tactics, stripping rights, ignoring law, violating the constitution, torturing, stealing from the people, taxing unto excess. The President of this country has declared war on the American people.

19.He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

The President of the United States has repeatedly placed men in positions of power who he knew would remove regulations preventing businesses from exploiting without sufficient protections the lives, livelihood, and environment of our nation. The man assigned to direct the EPA, the government organization charged with overseeing the proper use of these resources has been sited saying he does not believe global climate change even exists and has striven to open more and more land to oil drilling, deforestation, and commercial abuses. The unemployment rate under Bush has risen by two percent in this country in three years to 4.5 million from 2.4 in 1999. The lives of our people, our soldiers, and our public at being steadily eroded in the name of war and security, not for the people themselves, but for the President and his loyal body of men.

20.He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

Haliburton and the Black Water corporation, both groups which contribute contractors and military personnel to the fight in Iraq and even to the operations in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina were paid with no-bid contracts and without Congressional oversight and regulation. The companies themselves face lawsuits for war crimes and Haliburton has removed it's corporate headquarters out of the country for fear of accountability from the new Democratic Congress.

21.He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Our savages are not American natives any longer. The domestic insurrections Bush has fomented are the result of fear mongering by his administration and it's proponents which bill 'domestic terrorism' as one of the largest threats to the people despite the lack of any attack on US soil within the last six years. They come in the form of a total incapacity of Americans to inact legislation to prevent his destructive behaviors because of the divisions he's built out of nationalist propaganda. He has conspired to decrease the safety of this country by attacking countries which posed no direct threat to us on false pretenses.

These are the crimes of George. King George The Second, the ruler of the American Empire. Our founders declared themselves independent of a man like this. They fought him at every turn. Does the American public retain the courage to declare independence?

There is one last line I would add to this. One I feel sums the entirety of it up nicely.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Burning Down, Down, Down.

Welcome to July the 4th of the new America.

Nationalists control the major media and news sources, the executive branch of the government, and the judiciary. The idea of competitive government balanced against itself has collapsed into a morass of broken decision making. The birthday of this country is marked by impeachment proceedings on the most deserving president in the history of this, our United States.

This morning I printed out a copy of the Constitution and decided to eat it piece by piece. I got all the way through the preamble before I choked on the irony.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

It wasn't the ideal that failed in America. It was the idea itself. The constitution was written as a document meant to protect freedoms. It's been hijacked into a document dictating morality, not to the government, but to the people. The founders, given the chance to re-write the constitution today would have taken a different tack. Seeing their grand experiment in the failing stages they would have written fewer escape clauses.

We have vast stores of information today. The system of decay is building on itself, eating away at the cornerstones of the ideal with twists of language and congenital diseases built into the fabric of the institution. The competitive nature of the government, where it competes even against the people, has built a nation with a very narrow definition of success which leaves little room for expansion or self expression. Still the people...we the people...move forward, becoming progressively more dis-satisfied with each injustice until the noble ideal itself burns.

Why Do Our Leaders Persist In Being Tyrants?

If you want a tried and true answer to this character building question, look no farther than the front page. You'll see a series of stories about men in high places being indicted for crimes that would earn persons of lesser stature years in prison whilst these characters escape with a slap on the wrist.

Now, the higher up the food chain you go, the lower the punishments are. That is capitalism and the litigation system. Once you reach the national leadership, punishment may as well not exist. There is no-one independently given power to arrest national leaders if they break the law. They must be litigated out of office and to even attain office necessarily makes them the very finest litigators in the country.

What this country, it would seem, needs is a group given power to remove a man from office without oversight from the President. A wholly independent group with no ties to government of any kind. Strictly ruled, with very precise guidelines, but still completely independent. The main difficulty with this is that governments would be the only ones likely to have the power and resources to create and approve such a group and the litigants who run the power structure would not like the idea of being removed from power should they corrupt it.

The House Of Cards Comes Tumbling Down

There is a new PM in the British house. This man of politics may not include courage in his repertoire of virtues but he does know a bad shtick when he sees it and he's getting out of Iraq. This will cripple the American occupation a thousand ways from yesterday and the beauty and irony of it is that Blair, through his own ignorance and blind faith in President Bush has managed to destroy his own party politically.

Do you know what a dog is? A dog is a thing that barks at it's master's command. It sits at his feet and picks up the scraps that fall from the table. Mr.Blair had been a dog to the acknowledged worst President in the history of the American super-culture.

We live in a more conservative time. All over the world, fundamentalists have taken a front row seat but by leaps and bounds they are being unseated, prosecuted, and placed in positions where they can harm no-one. If George Bush believes he can replace Paul Wolfowitz with Tony Blair as head of the World Bank then he has another thing coming. The UN is in a state of disarray right now but the nightly news is getting less and less positive to report on and are being forced now to show the real crimes of this nation. In 10 years when the information is released in it's complete form and the old bastards in their 70s who remember the 'glory days' of Reaganism will be a shade knocking at the door. The crony culture is a snake in a den of mongoose all waiting to snap it's head off.

George Walker Bush is a piss poor creature watching his political clout drying up one man at a time. There is no hope for his Presidency. Another terrorist attack will simply send him into another tailspin, burying his rhetoric even further. Many things are forgivable to the American nation. Corruption, torture, violence, hate...they can forgive all these things. Publicly displayed incompetence is not easily forgiven and the war in Iraq is beyond public at this point. It has reached a place where no PR spin job can make the American people like it and the attacks on it's opponents have been getting progressively more desperate.

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

Jerry Falwell founded the Moral Majority, the largest Christian evangelical conservative political action group in the country. He advocated banning abortion, pornography, and stripping gays of their rights to marry, to adopt, to have protection under the law against discrimination, and promoted a return to the days of public bans on homosexual meeting places. His family initiatives helped create the 'abstinence only' curriculum which is promoted in American schools and has led us to one of the highest rates of unplanned pregnancy in the world. He advocated banning condoms and STD tests, declaring AIDS to be God's way of punishing the impure. He was the leading force in the rise of religion in politics in this country.

Today the man is dead. I cannot help, in my own small way, but cheer and dance in circles. His life was lived creating horror, fear, and hate. In death I hope he learns the real meaning of those words.
